New Orleans Eats: Horn's Eatery And Catering
I don't swear by many things. However, I promise that you will NEVER have a bad meal while visiting New Orleans.
My trip to Essence Fest was my second time in the Big Easy and Essence activities aside, I was super excited to sink my teeth into some shrimp étouffée, crawfish, gumbo and any other native New Orleans cuisine!
With all of the great food I ate while on my trip, there was one spot that had me coming back for seconds. Horn's Eatery And Catering is a quaint restaurant located in the heart of the Mairgny Triangle.
If you're looking for a dope breakfast spot, this is the place. I first went on Friday around brunch time and there was a good crowd there, nothing crazy. The decor perfectly aligns with their menu; fun, full or flavor and consisting of objects you never thought you'd see put together in one space. I ordered the Creole Slammer which was a pile of golden hash browns topped with two eggs and crawfish étouffé served with a biscuit.
After my first bite I couldn't even speak. The food was a perfect blend of textures and flavors...my mouth is watering just writing about it. The food smelled and looked so good the guy sitting at the table next to mine asked if he could have a bite! (NOLA natives are great haha)
That food was on my mind for the rest of my trip and I made it a priority to go back Monday morning before my flight back home. This time I had the Crabby Wife which consisted of eggs on top of a crab cake, soaked in crawfish étouffée and of course an extra biscuit. These biscuits will change your life!
I'm not from New Orleans but the food from Horn's has a way of making you feel like you're home and is the definition of comfort food.
I HIGHLY suggest you guys eat at Horn's and be prepared to leave with a doggie bag.
